I love road trips. I’d been shooting a short film for the Garmin-Slipstream cycling team in Boulder, Colorado and climbed into the car to make the 1,000 mile drive back to Los Angeles. I clipped my GoPro onto the dash and switched it to time lapse mode as I drove west on the I-70 and then south towards Las Vegas on the I-15.

Travel Tip If possible, make your first trip along I-70 going Eastwards during the day. As you leave Grand Junction the road pushes you higher and projects you into a canyon as the Rockies unfold before you. Europeans especially will find this journey a stunning demonstration of the vastness of America and its grand and prehistoric geological formations.
