Singapore is just a 4 hour drive from the center of Kuala Lumpur. Back in the day this must have been a nightmare journey through dripping forests filled with all manner of tigers, apes and creepy crawlies. Nowadays it’s a straight-shot down the freeway. I was always told that Singapore was a great place to buy camera-gear cheap. Not any more. I bought myself a lens there and was shocked when I got home to find that I’d saved myself precisely one dollar.

Travel Tip Don’t chew gum in Singapore and toss it on the street when you’re done – you could wind up in jail. If you’re an F1 fan like me, take a walk along Fullerton Road towards the bay, hang a left and walk over the bridge at Esplanade Drive and then turn right again along Raffles Ave and congratulate yourself – you’re walking the course of the Formula One race-track.
